'Foundations' - the Journal of the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy
Anyone can subscribe to hardcopies of future issues of Foundations or purchase back issues (where available) by going to our secure online shop. For those not wishing to pay online a manual order form is available - CLICK HERE. To view the online edition of the journal go to the Users' Area by CLICKING HERE. You must be a Registered User or Member of the FMG to use this facility and you will need your username and password. Full members of the FMG and authors will receive complimentary hardcopies. You can also view a sample of one of the articles by CLICKING HERE. To view the online version you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 or greater which is freely available on the internet. If you need to obtain it or your current version needs upgrading then click here to download the current version and follow the instructions on the Adobe site. Files which open in Acrobat Reader are of the format "filename.pdf". Please note that Acrobat 4 (or lower) WILL NOT WORK. You must have version 5+. We welcome feedback on Foundations, either regarding its genealogical content, or the form of presentation. If you have any technical difficulty with navigation in the Online Edition of Foundations, for example links that do not work, please let us know with full details of what happened and what error messages you received. Remember to be patient - the files can take a while to download, depending on your connection speed. Contributions for future issues are welcomed in one of the following categories: 1) Original articles of around 5000 words on medieval genealogy (pre-1500 AD) 2) Short communications of 1000 words or less 3) Some "how to" or "where to find" items for those developing an interest in the subject 4) Possibly some points of uncertainty or controversy 5) Longer, in depth studies by special prior arrangement with the editor Please note all articles are subject to
evaluation by our panel of experts before acceptance by the editor. Some instructions for

We would prefer material to be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format or as a text file, but we are prepared to accept typed or handwritten material. All submissions should be sent to journal@fmg.ac and advance notice of what you intend to send would be helpful. We offer the Charles F H Evans Award as an annual cash prize for the best article based on original or cutting edge research, leading to a major advancement in a topic related to medieval genealogy.
