Abstract by FMG - 16 Nov 2002
The author of the chronicle (formerly attributed to John Warkworth) was probably a Yorkshireman in sympathy with Richard III, but with a generally moderate tone. It covers the first 13 years of the reign of Edward IV (ie 1461-1474) including the abortive attempt by Henry VI to recover his throne. Richard is absolved of any participation in the death of Edward, son of Henry VI, at the battle of Tewkesbury. This version takes full account of the original text in Glasgow Hunterian Museum, which had been overlooked in previous editions.
