| | Abstract by FMG - 01 Jul 2005 | | This is principally a historical account, although inevitably considerable amounts of genealogical information is embedded within, including a table of descent from Nest, daughter of Rhys ap Tewdwr. The author set out to fill a gap, providing a more accurate account than before of the Anglo-Norman invasion of Ireland, and then to fill in some of the historical blanks of the succeeding centuries, in which he concluded that the domination of the English crown and its ministers in Ireland was more complete in the 13th century than had previously been recognised. Two books, the first covers 1169-1216. |
